Local government elections in Hyderabad and Karachi are entering the home stretch as voters continue to come in.


 

In 16 districts around Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, the last round of local government elections is now taking place.


Except for a fight between supporters of two opposing factions in Matiari, the voting procedure went off without a hitch. Television footage depicted a fight between two cane-wielding groups.


Voting began at 8 a.m. and will continue until 5 p.m.The provincial election commission announced that voters who arrive inside polling places after 5 p.m. will be able to cast their ballots. The results cannot be shown on television before 6 o'clock.


Early television reports indicated minimal participation due to morning lows in the single digits. As the day went on, attendance increased.
