PESHAWAR: Following the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly on Saturday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan promised to dissolve the KP provincial assembly on Tuesday, saying a summary would be sent to KP Governor Ghulam Ali.

The chief minister announced in a tweet that the governor would get a summary for the dissolution of the KP assembly on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The announcement came following an online meeting at the Chief Minister's House between the PTI chairman and the provincial cabinet. Former governor Shah Farman also attended the event.
The KP CM stated that the country was moving toward general elections and predicted that the PTI would win. "God willing, the PTI will return to power with a two-thirds majority," the KP chief minister tweeted.
According to a statement issued by the CM's House, the chief minister said that Imran Khan was a "true leader" and PTI was "one of the most popular political parties in the country". Imran Khan gave up his Punjab government for the good of the nation, and, God willing, he will become prime minister of the nation very soon, according to CM Mahmood Khan, who was mentioned in the statement. He went on to say that the "journey of development" will be completed under Imran Khan's leadership.

Mahmood expects the PTI to win with a two-thirds majority.

Following speculations about the possibility of dissolving the provincial assembly on Saturday, the KP CM rebutted statements attributed to him and stated that the decision would be made after receiving a 'green signal' from the party chief. "I would not hesitate to do so."

Mr. Khan had said, "The provincial legislature will be dissolved as and when decided by the party chief. He stated that people should not believe rumours and added that when he moves the summary for the dissolution of the KP assembly, he will share it with media on WhatsApp.
A day earlier, the CM mocked those who claimed he was in Lahore for consultations with Imran Khan. "Is there anything to consult? "How can I refuse Imran Khan?" he wondered. "The provincial assembly will cease to exist the moment I receive approval from Imran Khan." Cabinet insiders said they were still hopeful that the party chairman would listen to their advice and keep the KP government intact. Now, the final decision rests with him, a cabinet member stated.

Earlier this week, KP government spokesman Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif stated that legally, any assembly must be dissolved within 48 hours of a summary being signed and sent to the governor.
